About Hove Beach Park
Hove Beach Park, officially opened in May 2025, is a significant regeneration of a long-standing recreational area along Hove's seafront. This £13.7 million investment has transformed an underused 1 mile stretch between the King Alfred Leisure Centre and Hove Lagoon.
The area itself has a rich history, with the natural shingle beach being reclaimed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to create spaces like the Western Lawns and Hove Lagoon. The Lagoon was formally opened in 1930 and remains a popular hub for watersports.
The modern Hove Beach Park, a result of community and council collaboration since 2018, now boasts improved green spaces, a popular skatepark, pumptrack, tennis and padel courts, plus new cafes and facilities, building on the area's legacy as a vibrant leisure destination for locals and visitors.
